Some 700 homeless and urban poor individuals in Kuala Lumpur had a smile on their faces as they received warm meals from QI Malaysia staff who assisted in the operations of Kechara Soup Kitchen on 26 August 2017.

The group of 70 QI Malaysia volunteers were organised into 5 teams, which then went on to help Kechara staff in several key tasks at the soup kitchen. This included food bank registration at an urban poor residential area; food preparation at Kechara’s premises; and food distribution at Anjung Singgah, Medan Tuanku, and at various street locations in Sentul, Brickfields, and Pudu.

Min Khee, a volunteer in the food bank registration team, said the activity was an eye opener and an opportunity to understand the urban poor situation. Another volunteer, Sharon, found this Staff Social Responsibility activity to be a very meaningful one. Several volunteers had also commented that this experience was very fulfilling and planned to return as volunteers in the future.
