“Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness”
– Oprah Winfrey

In conjunction with the International Women’s Day celebration this year, the ladies of QI Tower were celebrated at a purple-themed tea party on 29 March 2017, a first for QI Malaysia. Hosted by RYTHM and Vijayaratnam Foundation Chairperson, Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran, guests were served refreshments including purple and white buttercream cupcakes and each received a beautiful gift.

Clad in a beautiful purple saree, which incidentally is her favourite colour, Datin Sri Umayal Eswaran reminded the ladies in attendance to always remember that they are powerhouses and should always be celebrated for the amazing things they do. “From the time she gets up to when she goes to bed, she puts others before her, making sure the kids are ready for school, that breakfast is there for everyone at home before heading to work and then rushing home after a long day at work to her duties as wife, mother, daughter,” she said.

She added that being a woman should never limit one from their heart’s desires and reaching greater heights. “Just always remember to never give up under any circumstances,” she said. She also reminded the ladies of QI to recognize their strengths, to respect themselves and to always support each other. The room was filled with cheers and applause as Datin Sri Umayal announced that the event would be an annual one, promising an even more exciting celebration next year.

Deputy Group Managing Director Mr. Kuna Senathirajah also shared a few words on how the women in his life are his role models. “Women need to be reminded that they are very powerful and strong, it is often the women that are the strongest during the most difficult times, including our toughest moments as an organization,” he said.

Other guests who attended the event included Group Managing Director Mr. Richard Zinkiewicz, Director of Business Development Mr. Krishna Kumar, Director of Administration Ms. Boey Kho and Director of Internal Audit Ms. Pushpam Appalanaidu, who also recited a beautiful poem.
