FOOTPRINTS
Kickstarted on 24 October 2009, FOOTPRINTS is a six-month mentoring programme that seeks to match less fortunate children with caring adults for the purpose of grooming them to excel in life. The friendship between the mentor and child provides the child with a new chance to develop confidence and learn about the world around them. Research shows that kids who have a mentor will show improvement in school performance, will have better social skills, and will be resilient to drug and alcohol abuse. The mentors are people who have the passion and energy to work with attention-craving less fortunate children, and who can be committed for a period of 6 months. All mentors have been carefully selected after an interview.

TV3 Bersamamu
In partnership with TV3, the Foundation has assisted numerous families and individuals via the TV channel’s Bersamamu initiative. Volunteers from Vijayaratnam Foundation have visited families of those in underpriviliged conditions to assess their needs and provide the necessary support. TV3 has filmed all the activities involved in this outreach programme for broadcast on its local news network. Through the TV3 Bersamamu project, The Vijayaratnam Foundation provided aid to Sakunthalai’s family from Kapar, Klang in 2007, and helped another poor family in Parit Buntar, Perak in 2008. We also visited Mr Hashim and his family in Gombak, with a contribution that helped him secure a new home and start up a new business to support his whole family.
